ABW 302G is a 1969 Fiat 500L and the L – in case you didn’t know it – stands for Lusso (luxury, in Italian). Luxury in this case means carpets instead of rubber mats, tubular chrome over-riders on the bumpers, brightwork round the windows, and a handful of minor interior alterations.
The luxury may be a touch thin by modern standards but the 500L still gives you the full Fiat 500 experience: a raging 17bhp air-cooled twin, four non-synchro forward gears, engaging handling, and a top speed just a tad under 70mph. Underwhelmed? Once you’ve learnt how to drive a Fiat 500 like an Italian (show no mercy) you will be amazed how much fun you can have in one.
Offered here is a genuine ex-Italian LHD car imported in 2013, in unmolested condition and with what appears to be the original factory paintwork. The Italian paperwork with the car indicates that it has done less 1,000km in the last five years and the odometer indicates only 95,768 kms (59,855 miles), which is not bad for a 49-year-old car.
The interior of the car is also very tidy and original – vinyl seats, room for four adults, and a huge sunroof that not only provides alternative ingress and egress but enables step-ladders to be carried with ease.
The car is now MOT exempt with the last MOT expiring in mid-August 2018. No advisories were listed and the car has only covered 40km since.
