If this Alfa Giulia Saloon looks familiar it’s because Alfa UK borrowed it a few years ago to help promote the modern-day Giulia and it was on display at that car’s 2015 press launch. There were those who thought it was the better car…
This was one of the first cars in the McGrath collection and, as you might expect, it is a very tidy example. Appearing largely original in specification, it was imported in 2010, used as a promotional vehicle and thoroughly enjoyed by all who drove it.
It has been well maintained and has had the brakes overhauled, new suspension bushes and mounts and some small repair work to the front jacking points. More recently it has had a new exhaust system, the wheels refurbished, and a new brake servo fitted. There are invoices for over £2,500 on file.
The car is an older restoration and eminently useable as is. The interior is in grey cloth and has original Alfa rubber mats and a period aftermarket Hellebore steering wheel. With its original 1,300cc twin-cam engine (84bhp), five-speed box and discs all round, the car is a hoot to drive and everything a sporting Italian car should be. No wonder the Carabinieri loved it!
