This lovely overdrive-equipped MGB GT was first registered in February 1980 and must be one of the last made as production finally came to an end later that year after a hugely successful 18-year run during which time just over half-a-million had been sold.

It has had just four owners to date and has been with the current keeper since 1997 and comes with a large history file to show regular upkeep over the years plus many old MOTs to warrant the 80,674 miles displayed. In 1996/97 it was fully restored bodily and mechanically including what was either a new or a rebuilt engine (the invoice says ‘new’) since when it has only covered around 17,500 miles.

The interior was also retrimmed in beige leather and remains a fine place to sit, especially on a summer’s day with the Webasto sunroof pushed right back. Inertia reel seatbelts have also been fitted and it has just been treated to a new set of Minilite-style alloys shod with quality Avon ZT5 tyres all round which have covered virtually no miles.

Supplied with all its original handbooks and two sets of keys, a ramp inspection shows that it is as good underneath as it us up top. Performing beautifully on test and looking great in its gleaming black paintwork, it comes with an MOT valid until March 2019 with only one minor advisory (slight play in n/s/f king pin bush) and is ready for a lucky fifth owner to drive away today.
