The vendor bought this 1973 TR6 from his local vicar just over three years ago, the reverend being only the second owner having bought it way back in 1975 when it was still okay to see clerics in sportscars!

After enjoying the car for 17 years, the vicar then ignored Matthew 6:19-20 by laying up his treasure where moth and rust did corrupt, leaving it alone and neglected for the next two decades. Fortunately our vendor was a former Triumph dealership mechanic so he positively relished the prospect of bringing the TR6 back to life.

In another stroke of good fortune, the car had been Ziebart treated from new so the chassis and structure turned out to be in remarkably good condition (spot the yellow access covers around the car). Repairs to the bodywork included replacement near-side and off-side front wings, replacement near-side rear wing, both sills, repairs to the footwells, replacement floor sections, and new headlamps and holders. The preparation and painting was entrusted to a local bodyshop who made an excellent job of respraying the car in BLMC Pure White.

The engine was in basically sound condition having covered only 54,000 miles, but the vendor overhauled the fuel injection metering unit, replaced the injectors, fitted new plugs, points, distributor cap, and leads. He also replaced the heater hoses, overhauled the radiator, fitted a new radiator cover panel and fitted a new, alloy rocker cover.

The clutch was replaced, along with the slave cylinder; and all fluids and filters were renewed throughout. Both front brake calipers were overhauled and new pads fitted, and the rear shoes and wheel cylinders were replaced. Both track-rod ends were also replaced as were the front shock absorbers.

The interior received new arm-rests, the seats were repaired and re-upholstered, and new seat belts fitted. The hood is original but still in very good condition, as is the good cover. The vendor also carried out dozens of minor jobs which have resulted in an extremely smart car which bears close inspection and is still showing only 54,300 miles on the clock.
