No-nonsense chunky TR6 from 1971 with the full-house 150bhp engine, fuel injection and K&N air filters – all the in-car entertainment you could want. There is a radio but, seriously?
This is an early car which underwent a bare-metal restoration in 1996 and has the photographs to prove it. It has only been lightly used in recent years (only 6,500 miles since 2007) and had new calipers fitted in 2013, and a new clutch fitted less than 10,000 miles ago. It has also been fitted with electronic ignition.
The car had a bit of lay-up before being re-commissioned in 2015. This included fitting new sills, removing the front wings, and attending to some minor bodily imperfections, after which the underside was stone-chip protected and the car re-sprayed in Sapphire Blue. Again, there is photographic evidence of the work done.
The interior of the car complements the exterior and there is a nice wood-rim steering wheel, leather seats, and to provide a little reassurance for the enthusiastic driver, a roll-over bar. The hood is in good condition as is the tonneau cover.
There are 18 past MOTs in the history file which show the mileage rising from 92,064 in 1993 to 113,170 today (that’s 21,000 miles in 25 years). The current MOT runs until April 2019 with no advisories recorded.
A lovely TR6 all round, it is ready and waiting for its new owner to drive away into the autumnal sunlight (weather permitting).
