This smart April ‘76 Series III 88inch petrol comes to us from a deceased estate and has only had three owners from new and covered an indicated 55,326 miles.

It comes with its supplying dealer paperwork and accompanying file of history, which shows recent expenditure of £4,342 over the last few years, including a replacement rear cross member, chassis wax-oil protection, an engine service and a new carb and starter motor along with new tyres and refurbished wheels. In addition, the gearbox and transfer box have been reconditioned and a new Borg & Beck clutch kit fitted in the summer of 2017 at a cost of £2,436. This example has also been retro-fitted with an overdrive unit permitting improved on-road manners and cruising with modern traffic.

The interior seats have been replaced with deluxe fluted items, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel added purely because the owner liked it. An original station-wagon hard-top has been fitted with opening side windows for added practicality. Another nice touch is that the truck still features its original radio and remains in its original Marine blue colours as documented by the Heritage certificate found in the history file along with the V5C, old style V5, books, stamped service booklet, manuals and invoices showing the care it has received by its few owners over the last 42 years.

A cracking and largely original example, Series IIIs have started to climb in value as Series Is and IIs rocket out of reach, the market realising how much better to drive and easier to live with the later versions became.

Being both tax and MOT exempt, running costs are minimal and values are climbing – what’s not to like?
