This 1931 Morris Light Van shares much of its underpinnings with the “Flatnose” Morris family car of the day, renowned for its rugged simplicity and ease of ownership - ideal features in a car and even more in a commercial vehicle such as this.

The vendor has owned the van since 1987 but has not used it much in recent years. It is currently a non-runner, but it is understood that it should not take much to have it up and about again. Although the van has been in storage for some time it has not been neglected and the paintwork (which dates from 1991) – with its wonderful signwriting – certainly looks good.

The van had a rated carrying capacity of 8cwt (which may not mean much to you millennials, but is eight hundredweight, 896lbs,or about the weight of a Morgan three-wheeler – clearer? Oh alright: 406Kg). Interior volume is around 79 cubic feet, (54-1/2 firkins), which is a useful size for anyone looking for a practical load-lugger and combined promotional vehicle.

This is a tidy old van which does need some attention but has been restored in the not-too-distant past. A competent mechanic should be able to knock it into shape in short order and tidy it up generally over the winter.
