This Ford Jeep was built in Canada in August 1952, one of 2,135 that were built under licence from Willys at the Windsor, Ontario factory between 1951 – 55. It was then exported to Korea where it is thought to have seen service. Designated the Ford M38 CDN to differentiate it from the M38 built by Willys it was essentially a military version of the Willys Jeep CJ-3A. The M38 differed from the CJ-3A in numerous ways, including a reinforced frame and suspension, waterproof 24-volt electrical system, sealed vent system for the engine, transmission, transfer case, fuel system and brake system.
This example was restored to a high standard in the USA in 2015 and was imported into the UK in 2016. Registered here on 1st March 2016 (NOVA Certificate on file) and has covered a mere 469 miles since the restoration. There is a DVD of images documenting the restoration which will come with the Jeep.
It’s been used sparingly by the vendor here in the UK, and is complete with the correct “pioneer tools” package of shovel and axe mounted on the passenger side. The screen folds flat and other features include a towing pintle, convoy light, jerry can and canvas water bag.
The M38 is a rare vehicle with far fewer surviving than the ubiquitous Willys MB, and is offered here at a very reasonable estimate and is ready for any off road adventure you care to throw at it, even if it is just bumping up the kerb into the pub car park!
