One of two ZB Magnettes in our auction today, this 1957 model confidently sports its cream and maroon ‘varitone’ styling.

Restored some eight years ago, the engine is said to hum along nicely, the car being fitted with a stainless steel exhaust. It’s offered here with an extensive file of paperwork which not only documents the four previous keepers, but also shows what has been done over the years and includes the original buff logbook as well as a Heritage Certificate and a FIVA Identity card.

Unfortunately, at the time of cataloguing, we had not had the chance to personally inspect the car, but the vendor believes that the 70,659 miles could well be correct, considering its overall condition. We are told that the interior is original and apart from a small amount of age related wear, the leather and woodwork is in tidy order. It also has a nice working period radio so you can listen to the Light Programme.

Externally, apart from a small number of marks made over the years, the bodywork is also very respectable as is the underside which has been undersealed, painted and shows no evidence of serious corrosion.

It is only being offered for sale due to lack of use, the vendor having owned it for almost a year and only driven it 150 miles. It looks like a genuine opportunity to enter the world of classic motoring with something that not only looks the part, but also offers decent performance, road holding, reliability and a considerable degree of comfort and luxury.
