The Hot Hatch Hero of the 80’s and arguably the early 90’s too, this smart August 1990 example boasts the fizzing 1.9 litre 130bhp four-pot so deserving of the GTi moniker and has covered a modest 103,790 miles.
Our vendor has been the lucky custodian of this little gem for the last 12 years and has enjoyed the car’s retro feel and dynamic handling characteristics but now finds increasingly little time in which to use the car, covering only 1,000 miles in the last two years and keeping it in storage for the previous six years.
The car is finished in striking Miami Blue (although there are a few tell-tale signs suggesting it was red originally) with glass sunroof, and rare full grey leather interior in very good order with a smart set of 205 branded carpets throughout. It has recently had a starter button fitted due to the ignition becoming temperamental with age.
The car comes with limited history bar its V5C, old style V5, current MOT until May 2019 with no advisories, a purchase receipt from 2006, sundry invoices for recent maintenance including a new clutch cable and rear exhaust box earlier this year and a few old MOTs along with the VOSA MOT history print-out showing limited mileage covered since 2006.
Said by the vendor to run and drive well, this GTi will not only provide its new owner with a lot of old school driving fun, it may even prove a canny investment and is being offered here at no reserve so the best did takes it home. These pocket rockets just get better looking with every year that passes and a 205 GTi is not a car that you’d ever feel embarrassed to pull up in anywhere, that’s for sure!
