The opportunity to get your hands on a manual E3 BMW comes along once in a blue moon, and when they do come up, few, if any are in such impressive order as this manual, RHD example fitted with the 150bhp M30 2.5 straight-six.
Although we had not had an opportunity to view the car before this catalogue went to press, the vendor has assured us that cosmetically it is pretty spectacular and although there are never any concrete guarantees with the mechanics inside a working engine, we are told that this is pretty impressive too.
This can be partly explained because this lovely 525 has only had two owners from new, the first acquiring the car through BMW Torquay. They ran a thriving bakery in a Devon village but were too busy to drive it, only using it for the occasional shopping trip to Debenhams – and only if the weather was fine.
All maintenance on the car has been carried out by the same garage, its second owner continuing to use their services. She also lives in South Devon and has known the car for years, managing to get her hands on it in March 2017. A few more miles have been added in her ownership but the odometer still only shows a genuine 62,750 miles from new. It made the journey to Goodwood recently without fault, where it was much admired.
MOTd until June 2019, this would make an important contribution to any serious BMW collection. Find another, as they say.
PS: This car is now on site and we are happy to report that it lives up to the vendor's description in all respects! The mileage is actually 62,750 not 69,000 as stated in the catalogue.
