This 1977 Triumph Spitfire 1500 looks cracking in its Brooklands Green paintwork – and so it should, it had a full bare metal respray only last year.

The car had spent the last 12 years in dry storage and its owner felt it was time to put it back into shape. As well as the respray the car also received a new clutch, new brake pipes and calipers, new track-rod ends and Minilite-style wheels with new tyres. New cloth-covered sports seats with head restraints were also fitted.

The speedo only shows 60,000 miles and given the overall condition of the car and its recent 12-year slumber, it is quite likely that this mileage is correct. Supplied with various invoices, photographs, original BL handbook and a manual, it also comes with a useful collection of spares including a hard top, a set of steel wheels and a tonneau cover.

This is a very smart example of the 1,500cc Spitfire and the vendor tells us that it has a strong and lively engine. Now MOT-exempt, the new owner should need to do little to the car other than polish it and wait for the good weather (or fit the hard top).
