All Land Rovers should look like this. Straight out of central casting, this Series 1 80” could not be more down to earth if it were underground.
A long-time resident of Shropshire and one-family owned for the past 30 years, this Land Rover has been in regular, light use until very recently and is in working order. It has had a recent hood and new seats and other bits of attention to keep it up to scratch. It is tax- and MOT-exempt and the last MOT was carried out in 2012 (no advisories). The mileage back then was recorded as 1,756 and the clock now shows 4,498 miles. It is believed that this is only the second time around.
XSY 818 had a number plate change in 1984 and is shown as being first registered in that year. The chassis number tells a different story, showing the Landie as a 1953 Series 1, possibly late ’52.
This is a well-loved family companion that is now looking for a new owner. It will add instant character to any country retreat but can also earn its keep with its time-proved versatility and simple construction. Like all Land Rovers of a certain age it has its battle scars but it will go on going on long after the current crop of 4x4s are long gone.
