The Morris Minor Traveller is the automotive equivalent of the Tudor half-timbered house and it is only a matter of time before English Heritage has them all declared National Treasures to be preserved for future generations.
The early history of this 1969 Traveller is not known, but it has had a lot of attention and not a little money lavished on it in more recent times.
Between 2000 and 2008, its owner spent £12,000 on the car. This included work to the chassis – replacing the centre section, new front and rear floor-pans, cross-member ends and new front and rear inner sill. It also received attention to the rest of the bodywork, replacement woodwork and brake reconditioning.
Miscellaneous work in the intervening years is also shown on file including a repair to the parcel tray, paintwork and general tidying up. The Morris also has an aluminium radiator fitted and as recently as last month was treated to a service.
The end result is a very smart Traveller that would appear to be in fine, original condition (radiator apart). It is believed that the 95,146 miles showing on the clock is correct, although there is no documented proof: the MOT history shows that the car has covered only 1,719 miles in the past ten years and DVLA records show that the car has had the same registered keeper for the last 18 years.
It was last tested in June 2017 when the car passed with no advisory notices. It is, of course, tax- and MOT-exempt.
