The Jaguar XJS Coupè had it detractors – and even its re-stylists (see the Monaco in this auction) - but few would deny that the XJS in convertible form is a very stylish car.

This 1994 4.0-litre straight-six model certainly looks the piece, finished in Kingfisher Blue with gold coach line. Add a matching set of gold-centred, polished-lip X-spoke alloys, magnolia interior with XJS embossed head rests and the effect is complete.

The car spent its first 15 months as a demonstrator and was then sold to a London-based property company for use by one of its directors. He retained the car when he retired and only sold it in 2017 – a period of 22 years.

The vendor bought the car in 2017. Wiltshire Jaguar then carried out remedial work on the roof, fitted a new radiator and - prior to a summer holiday in Spain - the air conditioning was also serviced.

The car was re-trimmed by South West Trimmers, of Calne, Wiltshire which included repairs to the front seats, dash top, steering wheel and carpets. The results are impressive and it is hard to believe the car is 25 years old.

Other work carried out in 2017 included replacement of the rear trailing arms, repairs to the gearbox mounting, the tracking adjusted and an engine and gearbox service. The off-side footwell and under-seat area were also repaired. In all, around £2,800 was spent on improvements to the car.

A recent and most enjoyable jaunt to Spain showed the car to be an ideal Grand Tourer and the MOT, in December 2018 again proved the car to be in good health with no advisories recorded. Only 2,000 miles from its last service, this big cat is in fine fettle, ready for its next owner and its next European adventure. The car comes with V5C, MOT history, past invoices, and two sets of keys.
