The second of a pair of 3.4-litre flat-six 996’s in the sale, here, in sunshine orientated cabriolet form, it too is a rear wheel drive Carrera 2 but this one is mated to the excellent and more driver-orientated six-speed manual transmission.

This smart drop-top was supplied new in April 1999 and has covered only 83,652 miles in the hands of its lucky owners. Our elderly vendor has enjoyed the car sparingly since 2012, but is now struggling to get in and out; as a result, its seen little use over the past few years.

The car looks very smart indeed, finished in silver with contrasting blue mohair hood. It sits on a set of later 997 generation alloy wheels and has full blue leather interior with optional hardback shell sports seats, painted embossed brake callipers, clear indicator lenses, cruise control, digital climate control and on-board computer. Best of all is the optional and expensive factory hard top that comes with it, permitting snug all year usability.

There is a good history file comprising eight service stamps by main dealers and specialist’s RS Porsche of Cardiff, along with a further four stamped brake fluid changed and three airbag check stamps. During our vendor’s ownership the car has been treated to a new radiator and A/C condenser, new water pump, stainless exhaust and a new battery along with routine service work. An older invoice on file dated March 2009 shows a clutch and slave cylinder renewal at 80,799 miles – just 3,000 miles ago.

It has a current MOT running until February 2020 showing but a few advisories and represents an excellent opportunity to bag a sleek and most usable manual gearbox 911 with the option of hard or soft roof fun.
