Superseding the first generation of water-cooled 911’s (the 996), the model evolved again into what we have here today, the ever-so sleek 997 series car.
Unusually for Porsche, development of the cabriolet version led the 997’s design and engineering programme, with the coupé following after. Porsche applied the logic that if you started with the more difficult cabriolet challenges (ie chassis stiffness) the coupé version would simply be more rigid. At the expense of just a little additional weight, the cabriolet versions attain nearly the same torsional rigidity figures as their coupé counterparts.
This July 2005 Carrera 2S Cabriolet is known as a Generation I car and boasts the powerful 355bhp 3.8-litre flat-six driven through a six speed manual transmission (The non ‘S’ spec cars made do with a 321bhp 3.6). It is finished in dark blue with contrasting tan leather interior, has a blue electric hood and features a good specification including Porsche navigation, heated electric memory seats, Xenon lights, adjustable suspension and Sports exhaust.
It has covered 92,000 miles and comes with a good history comprising 14 stamps and was recently treated to an £800 service, which should offer piece of mind for the lucky new owner! The car comes with a current MOT running until April 2019 with no advisories recorded.
