Four-door Morris Minors are a little thin on the ground these days but Brightwells are blessed with two in this sale – and both from 1964. Allow us to introduce you to Hettie, the elder of the two cars (by 13 days!), having been registered new on 10th March 1964.

Our vendor believes that the mileage on Hettie’s clock (68,750) is correct and there is paperwork aplenty to support this belief, but, hand on heart, we can’t guarantee it and Hettie’s not saying. However, she is in lovely condition and drives well.

Hettie’s last MOT was carried out in December 2014 which she passed with flying colours and no advisories. Since then she has covered only 1,694 miles and she has also been treated to a brake system overhaul (including a servo), new tyres, and electronic ignition at a total cost of £902. Seat belts, rear bumper, and rear wing have also been fitted in the recent past.

The large history file with Hettie shows that she has had regular care and attention lavished on her and this also apparent in her current condition, although – and we hate to say this about a lady we have only just met – there is a little room for improvement, although nothing that should give the new owner cause for concern.

Practical, easy to live with, and with a great spares back-up the Morris Minor is the epitome of the practical classic and Hettie is a perfect example. There ought to be a grant from The Village Green Preservation Society for cars like Hettie, but, with an estimate of £3,500-£4,500 she is hardly out of reach.
