Tamworth’s finest never looked better than it does in BMW Estoril Blue and it was a wise man (or woman) who thought to change this car from its original white.
Presumably the same cultivated mind organised the chic update of the interior and the fitting of MX5 seats – it is a welcome change from the orange and brown velour’n’vinyl aesthetic too often seen in British cars of the Seventies. The car is further set off by the alloy Wolfrace wheels, a smart electric Webasto sunroof and Ferrari-esque quad-tip tail pipes.
Under the bonnet the Ford V6 has been spruced up with electronic ignition, an electric fuel pump, uprated cooling system, custom exhaust, K&N air filter and it is believed that the engine has been bored to 3.1 litres during an earlier rebuild.
The car has a recorded mileage of 67,491 miles but there is no guarantee that this is correct. SAD 384R’s last MOT was carried out in December 2017 when it passed with no advisories and it has only covered 370 miles since. It is, of course, now MOT- and tax-exempt although the vendor has a new MOT. A few past MOTs and invoices are also included, along with some workshop manuals and magazines and a useful array of new and used spare parts.
This Reliant Scimitar SE6A is a very smart example. The upgrades are sensible and the cabin is a nicer place to sit than it was when it left the Tamworth factory. Scimitar prices are on the rise and this one looks great value at the modest guide price suggested.
