The Fiat 600 was already a bestseller when the Multipla was first launched at the Brussels Motor Show in 1956, and the new model soon found a loyal following of its own.

Designed to fulfil the needs of larger families and commercial users, the 600 Multipla was created by the engineering genius Dante Giacosa utilising the rear engined Fiat 600 as a base.  Giacosa’s design was truly a feat of engineering packaging.  By moving the passenger compartment over the front wheels and with the engine to the rear, he created one of the first successful monospace cars and was able to extract six proper seats from a car that was only just over 11 feet long!

The delightful Multipla offered here was built on 21st June 1961 and spent its first 54 years in Italy where it covered a mere 23,000 miles. Discovered in poor condition in Ancona by a UK based Lambretta dealer it was disinterred from long term storage and imported into the UK in 2015.

Upon arriving in the UK it was purchased by the Vendor it was sent to Weenie Fiats in Swindon for a comprehensive restoration including new floors and a complete respray costing £9,500. The interior looks wonderful and has been tastefully retrimmed in white with green piping to compliment the exterior. Resplendent in two tone Pistachio and Peach it was intended to become a runabout for his house and yacht based in the South of France but he now requires funds for a business venture.

Registered in 2018 as 639VXD and in excellent running condition it ready for its new owner. It requires some minor finishing including a replacement for the cracked fan shroud and perhaps a set of hubcaps and grille badge.

The Multipla is one of the most sought after of the post-war Fiats mainly due to its charm and practicality. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase one of these to enjoy “con la famiglia” during the summer at a very reasonable Reserve.
