The ubiquitous Land Rover was introduced by Rover just after the war as a stop gap model. The legend that it has become shows just how good the initial concept was, the number of early cars still working today and their fanatical following proving the quality and effectiveness of the original design.

With a hungry market for product worldwide and enormous pressure from the Government to export, Land Rover had a roaring trade sending their products overseas as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) vehicles for local assembly during the 1950s.

This is one of those cars, exported originally to Australia which would account for its excellent state of preservation. Yes, it is a full-on restoration project, but it isn’t a huge stretch of the imagination to see what it could become with a bit of elbow grease.

The main structure has survived well, so it is more ‘Meccano set’ than a strip and ‘start again’ project. It comes with some impressive bar-grip tyres and rare rear station wagon side panels although the roof section appears to be missing.

There is no paperwork with this vehicle other than a NOVA document showing that the relevant duties have been paid.

AMENDMENT: Please note revised estimate from the printed catalogue
