Introduced in 1995 to much critical acclaim, the BMW Z3 had all the wind-in-the-air feeling of a real sportscar with the inherent quality for which the German company was well-known (despite the car being the first BMW to be produced outside Germany – in South Carolina, no less).

Initially offered only with four-cylinder engines, the real fun began with the introduction of the six-cylinder models the following year. The 2.8 litre engine, as fitted to this car, turned out 190bhp, good enough for 0-60mph in 6.7 seconds but still gave fuel economy around 30mpg.

This 1997 Z3 has the 2.8 litre six and the desirable manual gearbox. It has just emerged from four years storage following the death of its owner. The car had its last MOT test in May 2014 and passed that with no advisory notices and had little use before it was put into storage.

The car is in driving condition, but needs a some attention (including a new window to the hood) and is offered with a very realistic reserve to reflect that fact.
