The Model A Ford was rugged enough in standard form but when Ford filled it full of growth hormone and produced the AA truck it became a truly rugged beast of burden.
This 1932 AA truck has all the Ford family characteristics that made the cars and trucks so successful but it has also been improved upon by our vendor. He tells us that the truck had been dismantled in the 1980s and he bought it in the early 2000s as a ‘box of bits’ – that must have been a very large box!
Our brave vendor rebuilt the truck using the original cab but building a new bed and drop-down sides. The engine was totally rebuilt with new pistons, bearings, camshaft, adjustable valves and re-ground crank. The electrical system is now 12 volt and features an alternator and electronic ignition and also has an electrically-operated fuel tap. The truck is also fitted with indicators, a modern speedometer and an oil pressure gauge.
It comes with various spares and a spare set of (original) 18” wheels and is of course tax- and MOT-exempt.
This is a beefy old beast which could well earn its keep as a delivery vehicle for your micro-brewery, smallholding or shepherd’s hut construction company. It could also be the next star of Peaky Blinders.
