Nearly a hundred years after its first appearance, the Austin Seven is still a hugely popular little car with any number of specialist fettlers, suppliers and associated clubs helping its appeal to endure.

This 1934 Austin Seven has been built up from a bare chassis to replicate the sporting Ulster model, named after the little car’s racing successes on the Ards circuit in Ulster. The 1934 chassis has been shortened to give the correct proportions and 6’3” wheelbase of the early cars. The chassis was stripped, re-painted and an alloy body was constructed to suit. The vendor – a skilled engineer – did all the work himself, including make the alloy mudguards and running boards.

The engine was stripped, cleaned and checked over and found to be in sound condition with only the rear main bearing needing replacement. The car uses a three-speed gearbox mated to a standard back axle. The electrical system was up-rated to 12 volts and new wiring fitted throughout.

The brakes were similarly refurbished, an alloy radiator installed and new switches and instruments fitted. The seats were upholstered in leather, which adds a touch of class without being too ‘modern’ in appearance.

This Ulster Replica provides an easy way into sporting Austin Seven ownership. All the hard work has been done - and done by a skilled engineer. The car may not be a ‘real’ Ulster (and how many out there are?) but it will provide just as much fun at a significantly lower cost.

The car is currently un-registered but the vendor expects to have a valid V5C by the time of the auction. Please ask our staff for confirmation of this.
