MG announced the replacement for the highly successful MGA in 1962 in the form of the MGB Roadster although it wasn’t until 1965 that the more practical and many would say prettier GT coupe version appeared.

Styled by Pininfarina, it had a taller windscreen to give sufficient headroom and came with two small seats in the rear, making it an attractive and effective 2+2. Over the production life of the MGB, nearly 524,000 were produced making it one of the most successful sports cars ever made.

Recently purchased from a deceased estate, this smart example was the subject of a comprehensive restoration shortly before entering the previous ownership some 28 years ago. Accompanying MOT's would indicate that approximately 30,000 miles have been covered in the last 30 years!

MGBs from 1969 have more comfortable reclining leather seats and the all-syncro gearbox which was introduced the previous year. The cost cutting later in '69 by British Leyland has been well documented and this coupled with the aforementioned upgrades combine to make the BMC '69 year cars especially sought after.

Finished in Tartan Red with black leather-faced seats, NFX 721H comes with a Webasto sunroof in good working order, wires and overdrive. The vendor reports that the 'B' drives extremely well and holds good oil pressure. The engine is willing and the gearbox and overdrive operate correctly. Handling is much improved by the addition of telescopic rear shock absorbers. The braking system has also been upgraded with a Servo - a sensible addition in today's traffic.

With an MOT valid until February 2020, this fine example is ready for the season ahead and will doubtless give its new owner many more years of very enjoyable motoring.
