This exceptionally smart MGB Roadster was built in July 1977 and was supplied new via Hartwells of Bath, the Heritage Certificate confirming that it was Glacier White with an orange and brown interior, Rostyle wheels and overdrive gearbox. It is showing some 78,300 miles which is believed correct and is backed up by a large history file.

The original Passport to Service book records the first owner as a Mr CD Hale of Bristol who was to keep the car for 10 years before it was acquired by a Mr Davies in 1988 who kept it right up until 2003. During his 15-year ownership Mr Davies lavished much money on the car, always having it maintained by Leacy MG of Birmingham including a bodywork restoration in 1991 with various new panels. Numerous invoices on file document regular upkeep since, including an unleaded head conversion in 2002 (at 71,820 miles) and a new hood, waterpump and alternator in 2010.

From 2010 to 2017 the car resided with an English lady in the sunny South of France and was only sparingly used. Plastic front inner wing liners have been fitted at some point to protect those vulnerable areas, along with a GRP front spoiler; waxoil treatment; stainless steel fuel tank and exhaust system; alloy rocker cover; black leather interior; inertia reel seat belts; CD player and electric aerial.

Our vendor acquired the MG in 2017 as a 'keeper' and went right through the car fitting many new parts including: front brake discs, pads, calipers and dual master cylinder; propshaft U-joints; clutch slave cylinder; track rod ends; halogen headlamps; throttle cable; fuel hoses; Accuspark electronic ignition; wind stop; chrome wheel trims; chrome boot rack and a sports steering wheel.

Due to an imminent and unexpected relocation with consequent lack of storage, it is now reluctantly up for sale. Free to tax and MOT-exempt, this thoroughly sorted MGB is in fine fettle throughout both above and below, comes with a large history file, sundry useful spares and should give its lucky new owner a lot of fun for many years to come. Even though it no longer needs one, it will have a new MOT in time for the sale.
