One of no fewer than ten MGB’s in today’s sale (well, they did make 523,000 of them), this lovely late March 1981 model rubber bumper GT has been in our vendor’s caring hands for the last 19 years.
During his ownership he has had the engine rebuilt by respected marque specialists Bristol MG workshop to standard tune and fitted with an unleaded head. The Vermillion paintwork is very presentable and the interior is astoundingly smart for its age – a good sign of careful use and regular maintenance. The rubber and chrome trim looks very good without the usual fade or pitting so often seen.
Recent works also include a new radiator, exhaust and A-posts in 2016 with invoices supporting these and other works in the car’s ample history file which also includes numerous old MOT certificates, MG repair manual and its current V5C. This BGT has a current MOT showing just 2 minor advisories until March 2020, the mileage reading just 000780, suggesting the car has covered just over 100,000 miles – not many for its age.
A few useful spares accompany this lot including a spare heater matrix bought ‘just in case’ along with a few other bits and pieces.
A most usable late GT in a dashing colour scheme in which you can’t fail to be noticed!
