Documents V5C; new MOT for sale

First supplied in May 1976 and finished in light beige, this 1500 HL model sported the more luxurious specification mated to the economical 1,493cc engine.

The HL (High Line) spec included a rev counter, volt meter, separate fuel and temperature gauges, analogue clock, adjustable steering column, height adjustable driver's-seat head restraints, seat pockets, rear arm rest and walnut door cappings.

It was specified with an automatic transmission, making it an interesting classic for today’s clogged roads and its first owner was evidently impressed as they kept the car from new until May 2000. Since then, it has changed hands a further four times, although has been in storage for much of this time.

It is understood to run and drive and it is hoped that it will have a fresh MOT in time for the sale, but at the time of cataloguing the history file was sparse, with just a V5C to hand.

A quick look at its MOT history online shows the car was last on the road with an MOT in June 2012, when the mileage showed 28,023 miles with no advisories recorded. With scope for some light cosmetic improvements to the paint, the wonderfully period brown interior still looks good considering its age, as does the wood on the dash and door tops. It represents an ideal opportunity to bag one of Triumphs stars of the ‘70s for little outlay with spare parts and knowledge a-plenty. Classic ownership doesn't get much easier than this.
