Coming to us from a private classic Mercedes-Benz collection from Cardiff, it has been owned by the vendor since August 2013 who is passionate about all things 3-pointed star.
Although badged a 280S, a look under the bonnet and decoding of the chassis number reveals the car is the fuel injected 280SE (Chassis no. starting W108.018***) and features the 158hp 2.8 litre M130 engine (the twin carb 280S made 20hp less) mated to four speed automatic transmission.
At the time of writing we had yet to closely inspect the history file, but we know that it received an extensive and expensive restoration in 2002 by one of South Wales’s leading Mercedes-Benz specialists Stuttgart Garage of Pontyprid. The then owner spent nearly £3,000 on the engine alone, let alone the rest of the car which received a comprehensive, documented and photographic restoration.
We are told that the car’s history file contains the V5C, aforementioned documentation relating to restoration, owner’s manual and other invoices and old MOTs and we will be adding further detail to the website as and when it becomes available.
