Produced by Toyota as an off-shoot of the globally successful and acclaimed Land Cruiser brand, the Prado, although a full-size 4x4, was to be one of the smaller vehicles within the range. It was introduced in 1990 as the J70, with regular revisions and series updates and is still in production today - now in fourth generation J170 series.

Part of the Prado’s ethos was to marry the off-road ability afforded by the body-on-frame design with greater focus towards on-road manners and highway use, unlike its rugged big brother.

The smart and rare first generation J70 on offer today dates from 1992 and is a Japanese spec model imported in late 2002. It features the fuel injected 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel unit developing 95bhp and comes in five-door SX spec with seven seat capability. It has automatic transmission, adjustable shock absorbers, diff locks, electric windows et al.

Finished in grey with original split four-spoke alloy wheels and two-tone grey velour interior, this boxy old truck offers a different perspective to the normal classic Range Rover/Discovery/Jeep Cherokee option.

The history file includes the V5C showing just four UK owners, the current since 2007, a selection of recent invoices as well as a new cambelt kit ready to be installed by the new owner. Its current MOT runs until March 2020 and shows just one minor advisory. Its odometer reads just 123,600km which equates to just 77,000 miles.
