If, on the 5th August 1983, you had been loitering near the premises of Furrows of Oswestry, you might have seen Mrs Dorothea Edge drive her brand new 1,593cc Ford Capri LS the short distance home to Watts Drive for the first time.
For those of you who missed that unique experience, here is a chance to own a small piece of Salopian history, and although other things may have changed greatly in the intervening years, the Capri has not. A479 YAW may be 35 years old but it would pass for a much, much younger car.
If you saw it in the showrooms of Furrows of Oswestry today you might think Ford had gone retro and re-introduced the Capri.
The car is exceptional. It has only covered 20,059 miles (with Mrs Edge owning it for 32 years) and the service history backs this up . The service book shows that the car was maintained regularly at Furrows, initially covering around 1,000 miles a year before the annual mileage fell even lower, with many invoices to show regular upkeep over the years.
The interior is spotless and looks as though Mrs Edge has carried very few passengers - although she did have Furrows fit rear seat belts in 1994 (they do not look to have been used). The exterior has received some expert attention over the years to keep it sharp and the Diamond White paintwork still gleams like new. Even the engine bay is impressive, with the only item not original to the car being the recent Tungsten battery. It has an MOT to October 2019 with no advisories.
This is a very smart, low-mileage car in exceptionally original condition. Our vendor is only the third owner, having bought the car last year and is something of a Capri connoisseur. Why is he selling it? He has found one with even fewer miles on the clock.
