What do get if you cross a classic Mini and a bonkers Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle? Well, you get something pretty unique and exhilarating - a Z-cars ‘Mini-Busa’!

From twenty yards, you might dismiss this as yet another old-skool Mini; sitting low and wearing wide tyres. On closer inspection however, intrigue grows. Slotted amidships beats the heart of the fabled Suzuki Hayabusa GSXR1300 superbike engine and transmission. Driven through a sequential gearbox with digital gear display and fitted with a very necessary limited slip diff, the true bikers among you will have already wondered about a reverse? Fortunately, the guys at Z-cars know a bit about building bonkers Minis and have fitted a 3hp electric reverse system. For safety, there is also an MSA approved full roll cage and racing seats with harnesses.

Starting life as a December 1988 Mini 1000 City auto, the donor has been completely rebuilt into what we see here. Z-cars spec online claims a weight of 575kg without body or engine/trans. The car has had around £3,000 spent earlier this year to make it road legal, worked carried out by JM Racing. The works included a major re-wire, fabrication of a new ECU, a clean and re-position of the fuel tank, replacement of fuel system components including fuel lines, filter and anti-slosh, replacement throttle linkage and an engine service and compression test.

Further jobs included rose jointed suspension, a re-alignment of joints and ride height alteration to aid geometry/tracking and adjustment. The chain drive system was also checked, oiled and adjusted. As a result, the car passed its MOT first time following its initial presentation.

Bar the current clean MOT running until March 2020, a couple of invoices and the V5C, not much else accompanies this epic car, but in reality, does it matter? Probably not, especially when you start it, hear those revs climb and feel the savage acceleration. Z-cars claim a 0-60mph of approximately 3.6 seconds…….Quick!
