The W110 series ‘Fintail’ was a line of midsize cars offered by Mercedes-Benz throughout the 1960s. Introduced in April 1961, it was the first series of Mercedes-Benz cars to be extensively crash tested for occupant safety. The W110 body was derived from the W111 series but with a 145mm shorter nose and round headlights, although the “fintail” rear end was identical to the W111 with distinctive lines designed to appeal to a US market that had gone fin-crazy at the time - though it has to be said that the Mercedes fins are mercifully muted compared to a Cadillac or Buick from the same era.

This handsome 230 Fintail saloon offered here was first registered in February 1966 and is an example of the second series of W110 offered from 1965-68. Looking very smart in metallic grey with a white roof and contrasting interior with red seats and matching carpet that appear to be in good overall condition. The exterior paint presents well, with chrome parts all present and shining nicely.

According to the Vendor the original engine was replaced with a 2 litre unit some years ago although there isn’t documentation on file to show this. The paperwork shows that this Mercedes-Benz benefitted from a substantial recommissioning in December 2016 with a bill on file for engine work for over £2600. More recent expenditure in January 2019 included an engine tune, four new tyres and a new brake servo. This car is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until December 2019.
