The vendor of this 1973 MGB found the car in a neighbours garden and decided that the neglected hardy perennial needed uprooting and encouraging elsewhere. Which he did (with the owner’s permission, of course).

He then spent the following three years turning the car into the smart and eminently useable vehicle on offer. Along the way he has added one or two upgrades including, Minilite-style alloy wheels, Safety Devices roll-over bar, Moto Lita wooden steering wheel and alloy rocker box. The car also has an Ivor Searle reconditioned engine.

The interior and hood are all in as-new condition and there is a carbon fibre-effect dashboard and new seatbelts in blue, which complements the re-painted bodywork (as do the spark plug leads – did you notice those?).

The car is described as a coupe on the V5C but the chassis plate correctly identifies it as a Roadster – as does its appearance. This is just one of those rare occurrences when the DVLA got something wrong – hard to believe, but it does happen - and should be easily rectifiable should the new owner feel the need to bother.

This is an attractive and improved MGB which is ready to make the most of the coming summer. The car is tax- and MOT-exempt but had its last MOT in July 2017 when it passed with no advisories. The car has only covered 720 miles since then, which is the reason the vendor is selling it – he just doesn’t have the time to enjoy it, although has had time to display it at several local shows where it has been much admired.
