From humble beginnings in 1979, the Lancia Delta went on to become one of the all-time greats in rallying.

A crisply styled five-door hatchback designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, its mix of nimble handling and sharp looks won the Lancia Delta the coveted Car of the Year in 1980. However, it wasn't until 1986 that it began to get really interesting, when the HF 4WD was launched, featuring four-wheel drive and a 165bhp 1600cc turbo-charged engine.

The following year the HF was completely redesigned with rallying in mind and a legend was born: the Lancia Delta HF Integrale. Now fitted with a two-litre eight-valve turbocharged engine, it had 185bhp and the world's most sophisticated 4WD system that rocketed the car to 60mph in just 6.6 seconds, on virtually any surface, on its way to a top speed of 133mph.

This very smart High Fidelity initially made its way to Germany where it was registered on 7th April 1988. Arriving in the UK in late 1998, the car comes with a comprehensive history file, showing extensive maintenance ever since. The odometer shows 102,000kms or around 64,000 miles in pounds, shillings and pence, which is believed to be correct and would certainly fit with the overall condition of the car.

The comprehensive history file picks up in 2012, with regular servicing by Zagato Lancia in London for three years, then L+M in High Wycome with further annual service bills to 2018 from a variety of specialists. In all, since 2012, more than £6,000 has been spent keeping this well-presented low-mileage car up to scratch.

Its most recent MOT expires in November 2019 and the car comes with lots of interesting material, brochures, magazines and handbooks.

Clearly well cared-for, Interest in these iconic machines, with their supercar performance and huge International following looks set to continue.
