This smart MkIII Capri was supplied new in November 1984, finished in desirable Nimbus grey and fitted with the range-topping 2.8 injection V6 motor.
The car’s history file suggest periods of storage from 1995 to 2006 and again from 2009 to 2018, looking at the old MOTs which date back to ’92.
Invoices from 1998 onwards confirm regular maintenance and parts purchase with a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm installed in ‘06 costing £400, replacement prop-shaft, also in ’06 and a reconditioned gearbox from Ford specialist Tickover costing £480 followed by a 285mm brake upgrade from the same firm in 2008.
The interior presents well, appearing to be in original order bar a modern stereo, the Recaros retaining their welcoming hug and sporty feel.
This Capri shows just 91,327 miles and looking at its old MOTs on file, the mileage was listed as 50,897 miles in 1992 rising steadily until today’s total. Understood to drive as it should and sounding particularly sweet courtesy of the stainless twin exit sports exhaust fitted.
More recently, our vendor has had the car serviced including replacing all drive belts, near side front wheel bearing, a gearbox oil change, coolant change and new top and bottom hoses. The car comes with a current MOT until December 2019 showing just three advisories.
With the Capri hitting the big Five-Oh this year, it could be a prudent time to buy considering what has happened to the prices of other big name stars at major mile-markers ……
