Introduced in 1980 to replace the 350, the 215bhp facelift 380 edition featured a 4-speed automatic over the earlier car’s 3-speed box and other mild tweaks to keep the car looking and feeling fresh.

Supplied new in March 1981, this highly presentable V8 ‘Sports-lightweight’ is finished in Anthracite Metallic with dark grey velour and leather seats, grey interior and dash. The spec features optional rear seats, walnut trim, 14" Mexican Hat alloys and removable factory hard top. The black mohair hood was renewed in May 2017.

In the same caring ownership since 2016, the 380 has covered a mere 62,000 miles, of which only 543 have been in the last 5 years. There is a service book with 9 stamps up to 1987 and 13 old MOTs that corroborate the low mileage. The vendor took the SL for a new MOT which it passed with no advisories on 15th May this year. There is a folder of bills and invoices showing regular maintenance, with work completed in 2017 including track rod ends, exhaust and fuel pump. There is also an SL sales brochure and two sets of keys.

The vehicle fired immediately on the day of our visit, the engine was notably smooth and quiet, the paint and brightwork shining beautifully which is unsurprising given the car was treated to a repaint in 2017. It is only being sold due to lack of use, with other cars vying for attention - the usual story! Overall the SL is in great condition as can be seen in the photographs.

The R107 Series has had something of a renaissance of late with values rising again and good, low mileage cars, especially V8s, are becoming more difficult to find. We think this is one you’ll not want to miss!

AMENDMENT It is has been noted that the Mercedes was recorded as "Vehicle Damaged" in 1993. Also the hard top is no longer included.
