First registered in May 1979, this smart black ‘B was originally a rubber bumper car, but like many has been converted to the more appealing chrome spec of the earlier cars and looks very much the part.
Our vendor purchased the car in October 2014 and being a mechanic used to restoring Land Rovers, went through the car making sure all was well, making improvements where he could including electronic ignition, new callipers and discs and fitting later 2000 era MG alloy wheels and a roll bar.
He created a schedule of what he did and when in the history file, which also includes evidence of an Ivor Searle unleaded head engine in 2000 at 63,154 miles with the warranty booklet and single running in service stamp at 63,701 miles by MB Motors.
The history file includes another list of major restorative works carried out in 2001 including, but not limited to replacement of both front and rear wings, castle sections, both inner and outer sills on each side, trumpet sections, both doors and jacking points, the boot, flitch sections along with a re-spray and protection of the underside with anti-chip. A new wind screen was also fitted.
Other invoices on file show the car to have received regular maintenance back to the late 90’s including a clutch change. There are ten old MOTs and a couple of agreed valuations from 2014 along with a letter from respected vehicle inspector Chris Leverett Classics giving the car the ‘all-clear’. The B comes with a current MOT running until March 2020 with no advisories recorded.
