This late-model Cooper MPI dates from 1996 and incorporates many of the improvements introduced with these new ‘low emission’ models such as the taller 4th gear, better sound-proofing and airbag steering wheel.

We are advised that it is not a Sports Pack model, although does look rather like one – the only non-standard parts fitted being the wide-arches and aftermarket 7x13” superlight alloy wheels (with decent 175 rubber attached).

Its last MOT ran out at the end of May 2018 so there will be some recommissioning to be done. It is fully up and running though and starts easily, runs ok with no smoke or funny noises and the brakes and gears are all in the right places – which would make sense as the 64,000 miles indicated is thought be correct. The interior is described as good and all the gauges work.

Painted in eye-catching Tahiti Blue with a 'Union Flag' roof, mirror caps and bonnet stripe, it certainly looks the part and according to its accompanying and complete bookpack has been well looked after over the years.

The service book shows eight entries and there are 11 old MOTs on file helping to confirm the mileage as correct. It has one set of keys, but two remote blippers.

Offered at No Reserve, this Cooper MPI has a lot of potential for someone with a little time on their hands and who likes a modest, yet rewarding project. The end result with be a sharp little Mini.
