This ex-military SIIa Land Rover is the Bear Grylls of the Landie world: rugged, good-looking, Army experience and not quite what it first appears to be. Well, for one thing, there’s the Isuzu 2.8 Diesel engine, a not uncommon hike and, all in all, not a bad thing.
Total mileage for KMP 20P is 156,782, but that’s not a lot spread out over 57 years – only 2,756 miles a year when you break it down. Nothing, really. And 58,000 of those were with the Isuzu engine. Lots of life in the old girl yet.
The current owner is only the third (that’s counting Her Majesty, the officers and other ranks as one) and he has owned the vehicle for 40 years. It’s not seen a great deal of action in the past few though, but it has been kept under cover and cared for.
As with many Land Rovers of this age, it has a few non-standard features: stainless steel exhaust, brake servo, Kenlowe pre-heater and cooling fan, Nato ‘claw’ and towing electrics, Exmoor high back seats up front - and that Isuzu engine. Poke around and you are sure to find more. Oh, and it’s been re-sprayed: green, limestone and black. The tropical roof came as standard.
KMP 20P has an MOT to August 2019 (no advisories) and our vendor tells us that it is “in good order’ and certainly looks like a most useful bit of kit…
