A natural rival to the Porsche 911 and Jaguar XKR, the performance from the Maserati twin-turbo 3.2-litre V8 was nothing short of ferocious. With 370bhp on tap, it could scorch to 60mph in just 5.1 seconds with a top speed of 174mph.

Supplied new by HR Owen of London in June 2001, this well presented Maserati has covered only 46,315 miles with a good service history comprising seven stamps in a photocopy of the original service book, six by HR Owen and one by Verdi.

A host of invoices on file show its first owner wasn’t shy of spending main dealer money with routine servicing as well as repairs carried out including replacement rear exhaust silencers, A/C condenser, lambda sensors, brake switch, radiator, dics and pads etc. There is an invoice for a timing belt change by HR Owen in December 2009 at 41,966 miles and then again with an invoice for the timing belt kit from HR Owen in March 2014 for £551 to Boss Performance of High Wycombe although no invoice is present for the work.

Looking wonderful in silver with a black leather interior featuring electric heated front seats, it rides on its original 18” 10 spoke alloys, shod with quality Dunlop tyres. The car comes with a current MOT running to April 2020 showing no advisories.

It also has the preferred four-speed automatic transmission, most reviewers agreeing that this suits the nature of the car better than the manual box.

Decent, low mileage 3200GTAs are hard to find and increasingly sought after. This gorgeous example ticks all the right boxes and could yet prove a shrewd buy at the sensible guide price suggested, this being a model that is widely tipped for future growth, as highlighted in last year’s Classic & Sportscar magazine.
