Dating from February 1989, this tidy black MkI GTi cabriolet looks very natty sitting on its period black BBS X-spoke alloy wheels.

It has seen hardly any use over the past 13 years, having lived in storage with our vendor who bought it in 2015 from the client who had it stored with him.

The car shows just under 3,500 miles which is unlikely to be correct and more likely has had a replacement speedo, or simply just tipped around the clock. Whichever, the mileage has crept up gently from 2,377 miles in April 2006, to 3,344 miles in June 2019. Its MOT history shows to have been off the road entirely between 2010 and 2016 covering few miles between these tests.

The car presents well and has a good soft top, which is operated manually and a cloth interior. The dash features three gauges centrally along with electric windows and a more modern CD player has been installed.

Our vendor has carried out a timing belt change and fitted new tyres during his ownership but there is no paperwork for it and he has undertaken to have a fresh MOT put on the car in time for the sale.

Clearly requiring some gentle recommissioning before use, this looks like a ideal route to Golf GTi ownership, these Karmann convertibles still looking exceptional value when compared to their tin-top GTi siblings, or earlier Beetle rag-tops.
