Launched in 1992, the Chimaera was intended to be the long distance tourer in the range, but the dedicated customer base demanded more power than the initial 4.0 V8 offering, thus TVR obliged with a 4.3-litre, 4.5-litre and eventually a 5.0-litre engine option, all based on the tried and trusted Rover V8 powerhouse. The 4.5-litre version as offered here develops 285bhp, enough to hit sixty in a mere 4.7 seconds.

This superb year 2000 facelift example is finished in striking Starmist Blue with blue mohair hood with useful removable targa top and sits on factory optional seven-spoke Griffith alloy wheels. The interior is finished in lovely biscuit ½ leather and vinyl with matching biscuit steering wheel and butterscotch carpets. The dash has been refitted with carbon wrap.

A four-owner car that’s evidently been well cared, there are just 28,000 miles recorded. It was supplied new by Henley TVR. The car’s history file is impressive, the service booklet showing 15 stamps, the last in August 2018. There was a documented speedo change at 14,886 miles by Fernhurst Motor Co. TVR specialists in December 2003, the current odometer showing just 13,132 miles. There are a reassuring 15 old MOTs on file along with a current MOT running until April 2020 with no advisories recorded.

Invoices on file show a repair to the N/S body mount in April 2014, new clutch and master cylinder in 2018 along with routine servicing. Our vendor has had the car for two years but now needs something with four seats to enjoy with the grandchildren. During his tenure, he made a few improvements including new engine mounts, four new tyres, new gear linkage bushes and also added a discreet external solenoid button to open the boot from the outside (otherwise it’s a palaver as any Chim’ owner will allude to).

This nicely spec’d 4.5-litre example needs nothing more than a new owner to have their spine well and truly tingled!

NB. Buyers please not the private registration pictured is not included in the sale and the registration will be retained prior to, or on successful sale of the car and it will return to its age related plate W272 TTF.

AMENDMENT; Please note that the car had a new clutch master cylinder in 2018, not a new clutch AND master cylinder...
