Trigger Warning: Morris Minor purists and those of a nervous disposition should look away now.

The classic car world is a broad church and all are welcome within its walls. Just as well, really. This is not your normal Miss Marple/country vicar Morris Minor as any fule can see.

It started life as a standard 1955 split-screen two-door Morris Minor and for many years and many miles led an unblemished and, presumably, unremarkable life. Then it fell in with The Wrong Sort.

TWS added those upside-down windscreen wipers, the MG RO-style wheels, and the rattle-can paint job (well, it livened up a wet weekend in Walsall). From then on it was a slippery slope and the car received some modern seating, (Ford Ka?), new door cards, a clutch of aftermarket dials, and home-made sound-proofing (which does weird things to the in-car acoustic but does let you sing Def Leppard songs at the top of your voice without upsetting other road-users).

The car also received a 1,098cc Traveller engine with unleaded cylinder head, a Ford Type 9 five-speed gearbox, a front disc-brake conversion and brake servo – which means it goes quite well and stops quite well. Nice legs, you might say, shame about (That is not PC – Ed).

This Morris Minor will – probably - not appeal to everyone, but there will be some kind soul who sees the humour in it, wishes to restore it to its former glory, or just wants to fit tractor tyres and rant it round a field with their drunken mates. These people can put their hands up and bid for it (or do it anonymously over the internet). The rest of you can watch open-mouthed in awe as it fetches a record price.

MAS 744 is tax-and MOT-exempt.

AMENDMENT; This car also has an alternator conversion
