Dating from February 1968, this two-door Moggie saloon has had just five owners from new, the vendor acquiring it way back in 1988 when she lived in London.
We are told that around 20 years ago the car was restored by Minor specialist Charles Ware, including work to the floors/chassis and that it was subsequently restored for a second time about 10 years later, including a repaint in the original Almond Green. At the time of cataloguing the bills for all this work could not readily be located although there are a few invoices on file, including one which shows the engine has been converted to run on unleaded fuel.
In the meantime our vendor had relocated to Wales, bringing the Morris with her, and it has languished unused and in storage since 2008 when the last MOT expired. About three years ago it was moved from a dry outbuilding and left outside in the elements, an unfortunate turn of events which means it is now in need of attention here and there. Said to have been in good running order when parked up 10 years ago, it shouldn’t take much work to get it back on the road once more.
PS: The history file for the Morris has now arrived. It shows that around £3,705 was spent in 2006, mainly on bodywork repairs and a repaint. There are various other bills for routine maintenance back to 2000.
