Yes, a Hyundai. Yes, it’s a classic car sale. We wouldn’t have put it in if we didn’t think it was a classic. A modern classic – it’s 30 years old. And it only has 7,000 miles on the clock!
We are told it drives like new – and why should it not?– only 7,000 miles after all. The tyres are believed to be original, which can be seen in two opposing ways, but it did pass its MOT with them. The MOT runs to January 2020 and had no advisory notes attached and it comes with a service manual.
The car had a new carburettor fitted recently and we are told that it will need a new battery, but, given that the car is offered with no reserve, that is not a lot to ask. We should, in all honesty, point out that the reflections on the driver’s door are not caused by a trick of the light but by a little free-hand re-designing that the car has recently suffered. Easy to fix, we are assured.
The rest of this Pony 1.3 Presto is truly like a new car. It is otherwise unmarked and – styling apart – would not look out of place in a modern Hyundai dealership. An ideal car for your growing modern classic/cars of the people collection and the only 30-year old car offered in this auction that still has that new car smell.
It is offered with no reserve, but we are expecting strong interest from Korea and will have a Won to Sterling conversion chart to hand on the day.
