Austin 10s come in all shapes and styles. Perhaps the most appealing examples are the pre 1935 cars with their traditional Austin chromed radiator, later cars getting a more contemporary cowled front, although little had changed underneath.
Austin’s best seller pre-War, this one dates from 1934 and has spent the last few years thrumming, when used, around the lanes of Herefordshire and Glocs with its enthusiast owner who bought the car from the Forest of Dean in 2016.
The car has evidently been restored at some point, but little more than the V5C at the time of cataloguing accompanies the car, so its difficult to tell. However, the work has clearly stood the test of time and the car looks to be in good order, but we’ll let you be the judge of that.
Our vendor has fitted a set of more modern electric indicators recently, as he was fed up of modern drivers not understanding, or reacting to semaphores or traditional arm signals! Although not pictured, there is a spare wheel with this lot.
With a plentiful supply of spare parts and expertise available for the model, there can be few pre-War saloons that are as cheap and easy to own as an Austin 10.
