If a fast road Mini is your thing, or you think it ‘could’ be your thing then look no further. Starting life as an August 1990 Cooper, this little pocket-rocket has been rebuilt by talented engineers.
The spec list is exhaustive, so do take a good look in the documents box for this lot, but in short, it features a rebuilt engine using a recon block bored out to 1,430cc, fitted with a Stage 5 head that’s been ported and gas flowed, fitted with bigger inlet and exhaust valves, a Weber 48 carb, Omega flat top pistons and lightened, polished and balanced conrods.
A more aggressive 296 scattered cam has been fitted, along with a lightened and balanced flywheel and paddle racing clutch. In addition to that, high pressure water and oil pumps have been fitted with a Jack-Knight five-speed straight cut ‘box with quick-shift and four pin diff, central oil pick up and an aluminium sump guard can be found too.
To stop this firecracker, they fitted four-pot callipers up front with cross drilled and grooved discs and negative camber set all round. The car was dyno’d in June 2003 and developed 118bhp, but has since had a 7inch intake and three branch manifold fitted along with some other trickery and reputedly kicks out around 150bhp now.
With safety in mind, the car has a Safety Devices roll cage, four-point harnesses and adjustable suspension fitted along with comfortable leather interior and wider rubber.
The history file features the spec list mentioned, dyno print-out, V5C and a few old MOTs. The vendor has undertaken to have a fresh MOT put on the car as it hasn’t been used on the road for the last few years.
