With its restrained, elegant lines, the Mercedes’ W124 coupe still looks fresh today and is every inch an over-engineered Mercedes from the era when they still made the best cars in the world.

This smart five-owner 1991 example comes with the 188bhp 3.0-litre M103 straight-six engine mated to four speed automatic transmission. Finished in Grey/black (option code 199), the car is trimmed with cream hide and burr walnut trim and comes fitted with electric seat belt butlers, sunroof, cruise control, electric windows, electric passenger mirror, electric aerial, rear boot spoiler, headlamp wash/wipe and eight hole alloy wheels.

Supplied new in October ’91 through Mercedes-Benz dealer Alexanda Motors Ltd of Grimsby, the car’s history file shows regular maintenance and routine servicing work by its supplying dealer for the first of seven of its 13 stamped services with service work then taken over by Mercedes of Cheltenham until July 2004 at which point the car had covered 97,147 miles. Showing just 102,796 at the time of cataloguing, our vendor found the car hidden away in storage and brought it back into the light, treating the car to a major service including new brake callipers, hoses and four new tyres in May 2017.

The history file includes the V5C, owner’s manual, aforementioned service book with 13 stamps including PDI, current MOT until July 2020 with no advisories recorded, service invoices dating back to the late 90’s and ten old MOTs dating back to 1996 at which time the car had covered only 37, 658 miles.

In lovely, usable condition with very good bodywork, the car offers an affordable entry to the Modern Classic world of MB ownership at a fraction of what these fine coupes cost in their day.
