One of very few built and sanctioned under Rover’s stewardship, this little gem has been in the same lady owner's careful hands since December 1995 when she purchased it from Kingsmead Rover of Bath for the princely sum of £8,995 when it had just 1,771 miles recorded.

Supplied new by Hartwells of Bath in August 1994, this Cooper Cabriolet packs the fruity 1,275cc engine and manual gearbox and is finished inside with cream sports leather seats piped blue, blue carpets, cream leather gear stick gaiter, walnut dash and door cappings plus original radio cassette player. The hood is of black mohair with clear plastic rear screen and is operated manually. The car also boasts the widebody kit with big bumpers giving it a more purposeful and unique look, not dissimilar to the rare ERA turbo version of the same period.

With just 32,339 miles covered at the time of our visit, the car has seen little but regular use during her ownership and has been well maintained. The history file includes the V5C, owner’s pack and service book showing six stamps plus a ream of routine service invoices dating back almost every year of her ownership from 1996 to July 2018. Notable works include repairs to the o/s and n/s rear subframe and n/s front sill in October 2012, new door window runners in October 2013, a new battery in January 2015 and a bill for £908 in September 2014 for body repair and repaint to the bootlid and seal.

The last documented service, in July 2018 included an engine service along with work to the brakes at which time the car was MOT’d showing no advisories. The history file also includes ten old MOT certificates. Due to be driven some 100 miles to the sale, the owner only reluctantly offers the car for sale due to her advancing years and difficulty getting in and out. A rare treat for sure.
